Developed in accordance with the neuroscience of trauma
“It takes all of us to heal each of us.”
Kathleen Harnish McKune, CEO of TeamTech, LLC, and Tim DeWeese, Director, Johnson County Mental Health Center, presented “Remarkably Resilient Together: Raising Community Awareness about Resilience” at the 2023 Mental Health KC conference hosted by Oracle Cerner. During the presentation, participants were able to interact with Remarkably Resilient Together™ (RRT) campaign materials.
What is RRT
Remarkably Resilient Together® is a community-based campaign to raise awareness about trauma, healing, and resilience. “It takes all of us to heal each of us,” Kathleen, the eldest of the Harnish sisters and co-founder of TeamTech and Remarkably Resilient, likes to say. Kathleen and her identical twin sisters, Karen and Sharon, created Remarkably Resilient to share the neuroscience of trauma through their own lived experience in hopes of helping people understand and heal from toxic stress/trauma.
Remarkably Resilient Together (RRT) was created to answer one of the Calls to Action from the neuroscience community: Teach Regulation to Everyone. This campaign does that plus highlights the importance of self-care. View this flyer for more information about our campaign and materials.
“We are more resilient humans when we
are regulated with a full resilience cup.”

RRT Materials
Card Decks
The “In the Moment” and “Over Time” card decks utilize the Four C’s developed for RRT: Calm, Care, Courage, and Connect. Using techniques and approaches from the “In the Moment” card deck helps people Calm, Care, have Courage, and Connect to get regulated and back to feeling their best. The “Over Time” card deck provides self-care techniques and approaches to help Calm, Care, have Courage, and Connect to keep our resilience cup full.
Care
Care Cards primarily provide ideas for ways to pay attention to yourself; there are also a few cards to help you see ways to care for those you love.
Calm
Calm Cards suggest grounding techniques as well as approaches for adding peace and tranquility to your life.
Courage
Courage Cards can help you overcome your fears or roadblocks.
Connect
Connect Cards remind you to build healthy relationships around yourself.
Reflective Journal
This personal journal is designed to build reflective capacity – the ability to step back with just ourselves or with others to look at something (an experience, a report, topic, period of time, etc.) in order to learn. Reflection provides the space for humans to learn, change, and grow from our experiences. When used with the “In the Moment” and “Over Time” card decks, the Journal becomes a powerful tool for practicing reflection while also building important resilience skills.

WITH EMPLOYEES
Gallup’s State of the Global Workplace: 2022 Report states, “Employee wellbeing is the new workplace imperative.” Issues like resilience and self-care are becoming increasingly important to employers, who understand that preventing stress, burnout, and chronic health conditions are vital to employee health, productivity, and retention. The RRT Reflective Journal was written to be a self-guided learning process and draws on the evidence-based practice of journaling and self-reflection to help employees learn, change, and grow. Providing RRT materials to your employees can awaken them to the importance of being emotionally regulated and being mindful of ways to keep their resilience cups full. If desired, RRT can deliver a one-hour workshop for your employees.
WITH CLIENTS
Those you serve can benefit from learning about the neuroscience of trauma and the tools for resilience, especially parents of neuro-divergent children or parents of children caught in societal challenges of substance use, depression, anxiety, or violence. Resilience has many facets – three of which are taught in the RRT materials: emotional regulation, the importance of healthy connections/relationships, and self-care to keep your resilience cup full. Individuals that are regulated with full resilience cups are kinder, calmer, and more able to think clearly.
WITH THE COMMUNITY
RRT is a great addition to your current prevention strategies with partners like schools and community organizations. Trauma, as we know, is one of the root causes for many challenges our communities face including substance use, depression, anxiety, and violence. Noted trauma neuroscientist, Dr. Bruce Perry, reminds us to “Teach regulation to everyone!” RRT does just that while also emphasizing the importance of healthy relationships and self-care. RRT can be customized with co-branded materials featuring school mascots or community organization logos. We can even customize some of the cards in our decks to best relate to your audience.
